In The News, Indian Raspberry Rudux

We had a question about the Indian raspberries. They do exist and they do look like slightly unripe tomatoes and they do taste like raspberries. I am sure they are delicious but they taste so discordant with the look of them that I kind of can't get over it. According to various "man on the street" sources and our friend Suky, they are called roosberries (I have actually seen signs like this at fruit stands) but they are actually gooseberries. I do not think I have ever actually seen a gooseberry so I can't confirm that one way or the other. Interestingly, the question came about as a result of a very good article buy the journalist V. Shoba in the newspaper The Indian Express. The article, which is about expat blogs, mentioned blog our which, of course, we can not believe. Being mentioned in an article totally mitigates my oafishness (or not). Anyway, here is a link to the article in The Indian Express:

Special note of thanks to V. Shoba.

Cheers Shoba
