Bus Art

We have mentioned Indian truck art (made up phrase) before in the blog where truck drivers have their vehicles decorated with discordantly beautiful art and metal festooning (word?). Well, in Calcutta, the bus drivers seem to have the same affinity. Every bus that we saw, with no exception, had some design painted on the back of their bus. Now, since I have to think that the drivers do not own the buses that they are working on, it makes me think that the bus company pays for this. What is their incentive? Oh, and by the way, the designs on the buses were all different and kind of personal. I don't know what to make of all of that.

Kind a like when pilots give their planes names and logos.

I LOVE the bus decorations. I could spend all day taking close up pictures. I even once bought a lot of the decorations, hoping to be able to come home and decorate something with 'em.

Ooops, sorry Jin. The "u" and the "i" are right next to each other on Indian keyboards.

Thank you for the information Gori Wife. We are going to buy some of them and decorate something in the US with it. Not sure what but something.

Cheers,
